Bar Taco is the newest addition to Nashville’s 12South neighborhood. The street food inspired restaurant concept at Bar Taco is now serving tacos, small plates and a vast variety of tequila.
The restaurant had its soft opening Monday, October 19th, 2016 at 2526 12th Ave and they expect normal hours to begin October 26th, which will be 11:30am to about midnight. Bartaco is a concept from the Connecticut-based Barteca Restaurant group, which also owns Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant. The Nashville Bartaco is the 10th location and according to the Bartaco’s website, the cuisine is “upscale street food” rooted in Mexican tradition that also pulls flavors from other regions.
What’s for lunch?
The menu list 13 taco options served on small flour tortillas for either $2.50 or $3.50, including Baja fish, pork pastor, spicy chorizo, Portobello with queso fresco, falafel, fried oyster, and duck. Small plates include guacamole, chopped salad, plantains, and ceviche, among others. Also on the menu are rice bowls, rotisserie chicken, sides, and desserts.
The staff was super friendly and the food was fast and fresh. I wasn’t able to stay and enjoy the cocktails, but their creations were made with fresh squeezed juices and well-chosen ingredients. I ordered the cauliflower tacos along with chicken soup and a side salad. The salad was great without having to be chopped with a fork and knife at the table. That in itself gives this place high marks!
Trendy and fun patio
Bar taco restaurants feature blue and white décor with basket lights, ceiling fans, and outdoor patios. Bar taco is built to give you the feeling that you’re on vacation and if you are on vacation you expect really delicious food and tasty cocktails. They incorporate fresh squeezed juices, including lime juice used in the margaritas.
