How To Make Boozy Popsicles For Adult Only

Sharing is caring!

I was scrolling through facebook yesterday when I stumbled across a Travel and Leisure post promoting Costco’s boozy popsicles.  Apparently, Costco’s popular Slim Chillers’ Skinny Freezers (a.k.a those boozy popsicles were extremely popular last summer and they are back on shelves at Costco.

As I was about to run out to Costco to grab a box I wondered if I could make my own boozy popsicles without spending a ton of money.  Low and behold I had everything right in my kitchen to make my own boozy popsicles.

These alcohol popsicles are a spin on classic summer adult cocktails like sangria, vodka tonic, Limoncello or just create your own recipe by infusing your popsicles with alcohol for a delicious and boozy treat this summer.

These recipes are extremely popular on Pinterest right now—in fact, searches for “boozy popsicles” have increased 68% since last year.

How To Make Boozy Popsicles

  • The most important factor in making your own alcoholic frozen pops is to understand the ratio between alcohol and juice because alcohol DOES NOT freeze.  Alcohol content must be lower than the juice so the popsicle will freeze.
  • Popsicles infused with alcohol will have a softer texture than non alcoholic popsicles.
  • Purchase popsicle mold from Amazon, Target or even Tj Maxx and Marshalls The molds are inexpensive and most molds make 10 three-ounce popsicles.
  • Make sure you purchase the molds which include the stick holder.
  • If you want different flavors you will need to create layers and each layer will need to freeze before you add each additional layer.
  • I suggest using fresh fruit and mortar to puree the fruit which will add a little texture to the frozen pops.
  • The time it will take to freeze the pops will vary based on the recipe and how much juice you use in your recipe.  It took my frozen pops approximately 4 to 5 hours to freeze.
  • I suggest preparing them the day before or early in the morning the day you will want to sit by the pool and chill.
  • Once the pops are completely frozen run warm water over the molds for about 30 seconds and they will pop right out.

Adult popsicles

1. Berry Sangria Boozy Popsicle

Remake your favorite sangria recipe and transform it into a delicious boozy popsicle when temperatures rise this summer.

Like most sangria recipes, fruit is the star of the show and I used a mixture of strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries which I then muddle in red wine to create the texture and enjoy my new favorite summertime adult frozen treat.

I’ve tasted, tested, researched, retested, and I’ve come up with this easy red sangria boozy popsicle recipe to help you cool off during the summer months.

5. Prosecco Ice pops

Some say no other beverage defines the Italian philosophy of la dolce vita, or the good life, quite like Prosecco and I must agree.

It’s long been the aperitivo of choice for Italians up and down the coast, and it’s now the most sold sparkler in the U.S.—and for good reason – It’s refreshing, flavorful, light-bodied, dry, and won’t hurt your wallet like some champagnes so what better way to celebrate spring than by creating Prosecco adult pop.

I think this is by far my favorite alcoholic popsicle—Yes, Prosecco Popsicles are a real thing and they are delicious! These are so easy to make that you will be the bell of the ball with this delicious Prosecco Ice pop recipe.

Alcoholic popsicles

Conclusion of The Best Boozy Popsicle Recipes:

While it is possible to freeze vodka and other alcoholic spirits it cannot be done in your home freezer. The freezing point of 80 proof vodka is -26.95C or -16.51F, while the temperature of most home freezers is around -17 C, therefore, you must add a nonalcoholic beverage in order to freeze the alcohol popsicles.

These boozy popsicle recipes are just in time for summer and you probably have all of the ingredients right in your cabinet and fridge so need to give Costco your money for something you can make right at home.
