Easy 30 Minute Southern Cabbage and Sausage Recipe

Sharing is caring!

My Fried Cabbage and Sausage recipe is one of my favorite easy go-to recipes. I love that it’s so cheap and easy to prepare after a long of work and running the kids around from activity to activity.

There is usually enough leftover for the dinner the next night which is even better.

I didn’t always like cabbage because growing up I always felt it was too soggy and not enough flavor but my Cabbage and sausage recipe is so full flavor that even your little ones will love it.

You only need a few ingredients for this Easy Sausage & Cabbage meal.  Grab a medium head of cabbage, sweet italian sausage, kielbasa sausage, andouille sausage, onions and my staple seasnonings which consist of greek season, garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.

I like my sausage to have a little crunch on them so I brown my sausage until crispy, sautee bacon and onions in a separate skillet, add shredded cabbage to onions and bacon.

Once the sausage is done and crispy – add it to the skillet with the onions, bacon and cabbage.

Add the greek season, salt, pepper, and garlic powder and onion powder.  (I like my cabbage to be a little sweet so I can a teaspoon of sugar- you can omit the sugar to reduce the sweetness.)

When you first add the cabbage it the skillet it may be too much to fit so let it cook down some then add the remaining cabbage and stir occasionally until it is golden brown and becomes tender.

I don’t like soggy cabbage and perfer my cabbage to have a little crunch so cook yours how you like it or until it is tender.

Conclusion of Fried Cabbage and Sausage Recipe

“This recipe works well for many occasions and is super kid-friendly. Even if you think the kiddos will not eat cabbage turst me the flavors are so full and delicious that they will even love it.

The savory flavors of the onions, bacon, sweet italian sausage and kielbasa will override the tangy taste of the cabbage.  You can also add onion powder and garlic powder if you want to add extra seasoning.
