Pigeon Forge is becoming my “Go To” destination spot for a quick getaway whether it’s a weekend trip with my husband or I just need some alone time to recharge at St. Somewhere Spa. I have been visiting Pigeon Forge for the last two years and Margaritaville Island Hotel is a one-stop shop for dining, shopping, spa services, rides, and did I mention food. There are 16 restaurants on the Island so you can grab a pizza from Mellow Mushroom and go back to your room or you can eat at the Timberwood Grill and enjoy the delicious Fish n Chips.
I have been so busy traveling over the last few months I decided it was time for me decompress and relax. There is not a better time of year to visit Pigeon Forge than Spring. The Smoky Mountains have begun to bloom, birds are chirping and waterfalls are flowing! If you are anything like me Spring in Pigeon Forge is filled with yellow, white, violet, and rouge beautiful colors.
With the Great Smokey Mountain National Park as your playground, why would you vacation anywhere else in Tennessee? Whether you are visiting Pigeon Forge for a “girls trip”, family trip or just a getaway Margaritaville Island Hotel has something for everybody.
Once you step inside the main lobby the check-in process is fast and easy and the staff is the epitome of what great customer service should exude! The lobby seating area is beautifully decorated in subtle seaside colors.
What’s better than a free cocktail?
Just beyond the lobby seating area is Latitude Bar and guess what? They offer a FREE complimentary beverage upon check in. The bar shares a giant see-through fireplace with the lobby with additional seating for you to enjoy your cocktail before exploring the Island.
The Rooftop bar and pool
My previous visit to Margaritaville was in the winter so I never got the chance to see the pool so my first stop was to drop my bags off in my room and go check out the pool. The Chill Bar is a full-service bar offering everything from cold drinks, Margaritas, burgers, and salads. The rooftop pool overlooks the entire Island and at night it is beautifully lit up and you can see the outline of the Smokies.
On my previous stay I had a room with two beds but this time I went with a King Suite on the Riverside. I love the rooms at Margaritaville Island Hotel because of the attention to detail they put into every room.
There’s a 40″ flat screen TV in every room along with a fireplace and Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker so you can make margaritas anytime your taste buds say hey I think I want a margarita!
It’s all in the details!
The headboard says, “License to Chill” and there is a padded bench at the foot of the bed.
There’s a Keurig machine with some complimentary tea and coffee K-cups. I love the fact I didn’t have to leave my room to get me a cup of coffee in the morning. I am not a morning person so the Keurig is a “must have’.
To my surprise, I had a big jar of Ole Smoky Blackberry Moonshine and a book about Popcorn Sutton himself.
Off from the bedroom was the balcony which overlooked the river and it is so peaceful to sit on the balcony listening to nature and enjoying a fresh cup of coffee in the morning
Exploring the Island
My first stop on The Island was Ole Smoky Moonshine. Since I was on a “Me” trip I decided to indulge in a little moonshine. For $5 (refundable with purchase) you can taste up to 13 types of Moonshine. I tried all 13 samples of Moonshine and each one had a unique and flavorful taste. The bartender tells you name and liquor content percentage of each sample and by the end, I felt like I needed a seat or food to soak up the moonshine.
After my moonshine taste testing my next stop was to find food. The Island has so many restaurants to chose but I decided on Timberwood Grill because I heard they have the best Bloody Mary in Tennessee! Click here for the list of restaurants on the Island.
Once the sun went down the Island lit up like it was Christmas! The fountain was spewing water in the air with what seems like a thousand different colors and the Wheel, of course, is the highlight of The Island.
Margaritaville Island Hotel is by far the best hotel Pigeon Forge. Again, I am a sucker for modern and contemporary decor, therefore, Margaritaville is it for me!
Where do you stay in Pigeon Forge? Have you stayed at Margaritaville Island Hotel? Will you stay here instead of renting a cabin?
I was hosted for three nights at Margaritaville Island Hotel to give my readers a different perspective and to share my thoughts. All opinions expressed in my review are honest and my own.
