I received compensation from Bayer Consumer Health, makers of MiraLAX® to write this post. MiraLAX® is a laxative used to treat occasional constipation. All opinions are entirely my own. #ReLAXOnTheGo #CollectiveBias #ad
When I leave home for an extended period of time, I find myself completely unable to go to the bathroom unable to go to the bathroom.
I had been planning my annual getaway with my husband for some time to but before my vacation began I knew I would have to address occasional constipation I suffer from everytime I am gone for more than three days.
It’s like clockwork: one day passes, then two, then three, then four. Pretty soon, instead of enjoying my vacation with the hubby, all I can think about is my occasional constipation.
The hubby and I were so excited about our vacation and spending quality time together but I broke the cardinal rule of traveling by not drinking enough water and eating poorly before taking a trip.
After a very busy week of packing and preparing for our trip by myself, because my hubby had better things to do…. i.e. watch tv; while I ran to the store to pick up last minute items including MiraLAX® and made sure our fur baby Riley had boarding reservations, etc.
You might be one of the many people who struggle with occasional constipation while on vacation. Yes, this is a thing; and yes, it’s pretty common and you are not alone.
It’s not a subject your friends and family will likely post on facebook asking about solutions for but trust me you are not alone.
Occasional Constipation Can Happen For A Number Of Reasons:
If you’re stressed about travel — the planning, the packing, the flight — Stress can alter your nervous system, which can cause gas, bloating, and abdominal discomfort.
1) Lack of fiber in the diet
I know it’s hard to think about fiber while on vacation with the endless buffets, finger foods, and snacks; but people whose diets include a good quantity of fiber are significantly less likely to suffer from occasional constipation.
Try to eat foods rich in fiber such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains or even a tropical smoothie.
2) Physical Inactivity
Occasional constipation can also occur if someone becomes too physically inactive. If you are laying around for hours on end at the pool and are not moving; your risk of occasional constipation could increase. Go for a morning run on the beach, it will only take 15 min out of your day and your tummy will thank you later.
3) Changes In Routine
Traveling can often affect the digestive system, as meals are eaten at different times, or a person might go to bed, get up, and go to the restroom at different times than they did at home. All these changes can raise the risk of occasional constipation.
4) Not Drinking Enough Water
Regularly drinking plenty of water reduces the risk of occasional constipation as well.
Many sodas and drinks contain caffeine, which can cause dehydration and will make things worse; so be careful of consuming too many sodas if you are susceptible to occasional constipation.
If you’ve ever gone on a trip and failed to go the bathroom for a few days straight; you know that’s not a good feeling, so don’t leave home without MiraLAX® Mix-In Pax so you can prevent feeling groggy, to begin with, while on vacation, and enjoy spending quality time with your hubby, friends or family.

I couldn’t enjoy the resort with my husband because I was experiencing tummy cramps along with that bloated feeling, nausea, and loss of appetite. Who has time to be bloated and not eating while you are on vacation? Thank Goodness I went to Target before I left home to purchase MiraLAX® Mix-In Pax.
Because MiraLAX® worked with the water in my body, it provided the relief I needed from occasional constipation and a gentle experience that didn’t cause harsh side effects.
MiraLAX® Mix-In Pax is the perfect traveling companion because they are different from stimulant laxatives. As I mentioned, they work with the water in your body to hydrate, soften, and ease movement to unblock your system.
I have tried stimulant laxative pills in the past and they have always caused me to have terrible tummy cramps and griping. They make you go by forcefully stimulating the nerves in your colon.
Hopefully, you’ll follow my suggestions and you will not experience occasional constipation while on vacation. Just in case, pack MiraLAX® Mix-In Pax to ensure you stay regular while on vacation.
