What You Will Find on This Site

This is a luxury travel publication built around the destinations Black women 45+ are actually researching. Every post is from a place I have been on the ground.

Mexico: Mexico is one of the most-searched destinations on the site, and the country I have spent the most time covering. Start with Is Cancun Safe?, Is Cabo San Lucas Safe?, or the Mexico Travel Warning Guide. For luxury hotels, my Los Cabos all-inclusive resort guide is the most-used post in the Mexico cluster.

Italy: The Amalfi Coast is the highest-converting content on the site. Start with my Amalfi Coast towns guide and the related Italy hotel reviews. The Italy Packing Guide is also available as a digital product.

Africa: Africa coverage includes South Africa safety, luxury safari guides, and the Luxury Africa Travel Guide published in early 2026.

Asia: Is Phuket Safe? is the most-read Asia safety guide on the site, with more Thailand and broader Asia coverage in development for 2026.

United States: US coverage is where the Nashville and Alaska clusters live. Recent additions include the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Nashville luxury hotels, and the Fairbanks Alaska guide.

Travel Safety The complete safety guide library lives at /category/travel-safety/. For solo female travelers planning trips abroad, the Comprehensive Travel Safety Guide is also available as a digital product.

Traveling With My Family

Behind the Brand

Our daughter Madison is in college now. James and I are officially empty nesters, which sounded scary before it happened and turned out to be the best season we have had so far.

We still travel as a family when she is home for spring and fall break, but most of the trips I am writing about now are the ones James and I are taking on our own.

We have time. We have the budget. And we are using both.

This is also the season most travel content still misses. Black women over 50 are traveling more, spending more, and planning bigger trips than we ever have, and most travel sites are still writing for women half our age.

That is the gap Passports and Grub fills. If you are a woman over 50 looking for travel content that actually speaks to where you are, this is the place for you.

Travel Is How We Stay Us

After almost a decade of marriage, careers, and raising Madison together, James and I have figured out one thing for sure. Travel is how we stay us.

Every year, we take at least one trip that has nothing to do with the blog. No content. No sponsors. No itinerary built around press releases. Just the two of us, somewhere we have been wanting to go, with nothing on the schedule but each other.

This is also the season most brands are still figuring out how to talk to. Luxury travel for couples over 50 is one of the fastest-growing segments in the industry, and most travel content is still written like the kids are at home and the budget is tight.

Ours is not. Yours probably is not either. If you are planning anniversary trips, milestone birthdays, or the bucket list trips you finally have the time and money to take, this is the corner of the internet where that gets covered.

Speaking and Conferences

In addition to running Passports and Grub, I speak regularly at travel industry conferences and creator events on SEO strategy, brand-creator partnerships, and how to build content that actually serves Black women travelers.

Recent and upcoming engagements include the TBEX North America Conference (where I serve as Conference Director), panels at IMM, and workshops with the Black Travel Alliance.

For speaking inquiries, panel invitations, or brand-creator workshop bookings, the full list of services is at TomikoHarvey.com.

This is your Season

The version of you who pushed off the trip because the kids needed something, the job needed you, or the timing was never right is allowed to be done with that. The version of you reading this right now is exactly who I built Passports and Grub for.

Anniversary trips. Solo trips. Girlfriend trips. The bucket list trip you have been rewriting in your head for ten years. Whatever the trip is, you are the one taking it.

If you want safety guides, hotel reviews, and trip planning intel from a woman who has actually been there and is still going, sign up for the newsletter and I will send the next one straight to your inbox.
