What Do I like About Orbitz Reward Visa Credit Card

I like that there’s no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, it’s issued by a bank I don’t already use (Comenity Capital Bank, issuers of the Virgin America credit cards), and that it grants you automatic “Star” status for free internet and breakfast at certain hotels which is definitely a perk you will need.

You can begin earning Orbucks the moment you book your trip to scoring awesome extra perks like free hotel stays and waived resort fees.

All you have to do is click here to join the free Orbitz Rewards program and click here to see the latest offerings below to see what you perks you could be enjoying.

What Are Travel Rewards?

Travel rewards are specifically designed to help you earn free or mostly free travel and there are three types of travel reward:

  • General travel rewards
  • Hotel rewards
  • Airline reward

General travel rewards

Many credit card issuers offer travel credit cards that use the issuer’s proprietary travel rewards program. Depending on the program, you may have more or less flexibility when redeeming your points or miles

Hotel rewards

Most, if not all, major hotel brands have one or more credit cards that allow you to rack up loyalty points with that hotel chain.

Depending on the hotel rewards program, you may have the option to redeem your points for other things like gift cards and airfare. But you’ll typically always get the best value by redeeming them for free nights.

Hotel credit cards tend to offer fringe benefits on top of their rewards programs, such as elite status with the hotel brand and a free night stay every time you renew and pay your annual fee.

Airline Miles Credit Card

Just about every airline has one or more co-branded cards that make it easy to earn miles or points with your everyday purchases.

Like hotel rewards programs, some frequent flyer programs offer several ways to redeem your points. But you’ll almost always get the best redemption rate if you use them to book free flights.

In addition to a rewards program, airline credit cards often provide cardholders with perks specific to that airline. Common benefits include priority boarding, a free checked bag for you and others on your itinerary and discounts on in-flight purchases.

Many airline miles credit cards charge annual fees and and while they often offer enough benefits to make up for a fee, it’s typically not worth it if you don’t use those benefits enough to do so. There are, of course, some no-annual-fee travel cards. But they don’t usually offer big sign-up bonuses or a lot of extra benefits.

Spending habits

Most travel credit cards offer bonus rewards on certain purchases, but some offer a high rewards rate on all purchases you make.

As you compare various travel cards, consider where you spend most of your money. If your top spending categories align with the Orbitz Rewards categories it will be easier to rack up rewards with Orbitz than with other reward credit cards.

How Does The Orbitz Reward Visa Credit Card Work?

The Orbitz Visa credit card earns rewards equal to a percentage of your spending, and those rewards are paid in the Orbucks currency. Rewards earned on the card come on top of what you can earn by being a member of the separate Orbitz Rewards Program. (Program membership is free, but if you’re not already a member, Orbitz will ask you to join in order to apply for a credit card.)

When you book travel through Orbitz with your Orbitz Rewards® Visa® Card, you’ll earn rewards at different rates based on:

  • What kind of travel you book — hotel, airline, car rental, etc.
  • Whether you book on the web at Orbitz.com or through Orbitz’s mobile app.

There’s no limit to the amount of Orbucks you can earn with the card which makes the Orbitz travel rewards credit card worth it.

You will benefit from the visa travel card if you travel often for work or leisure and can afford to charge large amounts on the travel in order in order to earn significant reward points.

The more money you charge on your travel reward credit card, the more points you will receive.  If you are able to pay off your credit card balance monthly, the travel rewards you get might be worth it.

Travelers who have an account earn Orbucks on every purchase, and 1 Orbuck = $1 and you can also earn rewards by signing up with the Orbitz Rewards Dining program which does not require the Orbitz CC.

By signing up for the Orbitz Credit Card, and by taking advantage of rotating Special Promotions you are guaranteed to be relaxing on the beach in absolutely no time at all and you will also be eligible for additional ‘benefits’ including complimentary hotel upgrades, reimbursement for pet fees, and TSA PreCheck Membership at no cost.

Orbitz Credit Card Rewards offering the following:

  • $100 statement credit after you spend $1500 in the first 90 days
  • Earn 5% back in Orbucks on all qualifying Orbitz bookings using this card.
  • Earn 2% back in Orbucks on all other purchases with this card.
  • Complimentary Orbitz Rewards Gold Status – Earn up to 5% additional rewards with your membership.
  • Use your Orbitz Rewards Visa Card and your Orbucks® never expire. Redeem your rewards any time – no blackout dates.

How to Sign up and Log In

To start earning Orbucks, you must first register for an Orbitz Rewards account. You will then need to sign up for an Orbitz Rewards Dining account separately using the same email address — this is so your accounts can be linked. Make sure you link the credit card that you tend to use for purchases.

Complimentary Orbitz Reward Gold Status

By getting the Orbitz Visa card, you will be automatically enrolled in Gold reward status. This qualifies you for a number of perks including free hotel upgrades, Wi-Fi and breakfast at VIP hotels (marked with a special badge when you search through Orbitz bookings).

Normally in order to qualify for Gold Status you would need to use Orbitz to stay at hotels for four nights inside of one year. That would mean you don’t get to enjoy Gold Status on those first four nights of every year.

The Orbitz visa travel card uniquely gives you the opportunity to enjoy these benefits for all your VIP Hotel stays.

Conclusion of Orbitz Rewards® Visa® Card

If you are looking for a visa travel card that will provide you with the most points for hotel rewards I highly suggest the Orbitz Rewards® Visa® Card as it has the highest earning potential of most reward credit cards and will give you more bang for your buck.

Many travel reward credit cards charge annual fees that start around $95 and go up to $700 along with charging foreign transaction fees but the Orbitz Rewards® Visa® Card charges neither of these fees, so it won’t cost you a thing to use the Orbitz Credit Card no matter the destination.

  1. That is good information to know. I hesitate to open another credit card for travel, because of the fees associated with it. This is something to definitely look into for our future travel plans.
