1. Amalfi Coast, Italy

The Amalfi Coast is not as warm as other hot countries in October but should definitely be on your bucket list as a fall favorite.

The Amalfi Coast of Italy is one of my favorite destinations, and in the fall, the coast offers temperatures in the mid-70s temperatures in October.

Nestled on the southwestern coast of Italy, the Amalfi Coast is a dream destination for many travelers seeking warm weather in the month of October.

The Amalfi Coast coastline stretches for 50 kilometers, offering breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Visitors can explore the charming villages of Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, each with its own unique character and history.

Stroll along the narrow streets lined with colorful houses, enjoy traditional Italian cuisine, and sip on local wines while soaking up the Mediterranean sunshine.

The Amalfi Coast also offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities. Hike along the rugged cliffs, take a dip in the turquoise waters, or sail around the hidden coves and grottos.

For those looking for a more relaxed vacation, indulge in a spa treatment or simply unwind on the beach.

October is the perfect time to visit the Amalfi Coast, as the crowds thin out and the temperatures are mild. Don’t miss the chance to experience the beauty and charm of this Italian gem before the winter sets in.

The historical cities, authentic Italian dishes, and romantic views attractions make this one of the best places to travel in October for warm weather.

Where to Stay on the Amalfi Coast

Hotel Onda Verde is where I spent my honeymoon and is a romantic hotel that’s a favorite of couples celebrating honeymoons and anniversaries.

This family-run boutique hotel is carved into the cliffs along the Amalfi coast and sits directly above the beautiful Mediterranean in the quiet village of Praiano.

2. Tempe, Arizona

Tempe is a great destination for those seeking a warm getaway in October. With an average temperature of around 85 degrees, it’s the perfect place to escape the chill and soak up the sun.

Tempe is known for its beautiful parks and nature reserves, including Tempe Beach Park and Papago Park, which offer stunning views of the surrounding desert landscape.

For those interested in culture, the city boasts a number of museums, galleries, and theaters, such as the Tempe Center for the Arts and the Tempe History Museum.

You can explore the lively Mill Avenue District, home to numerous restaurants, bars, and shops. Plus, with its close proximity to Phoenix, Tempe offers easy access to other popular attractions like Camelback Mountain and the Desert Botanical Garden.

Tempe is the perfect warm destination for October, whether relaxing in the sun, taking in some culture, or exploring the great outdoors.

Tempe, Arizona, has 330 days of sunshine per year, making it the ideal destination for a mother-daughter weekend trip. The warm temperatures are ideal for activities indoors and outdoors.

Located just east of Phoenix in the Sonoran Desert, Tempe is centrally located and just minutes from other beautiful desert destinations you can enjoy, thanks to mild temperatures.

3. Turks and Caicos

If you are dreaming of the perfect fall warm-weather getaway far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, I suggest Turks & Caicos, as it is one of my favorite family vacations. With average highs of 87 degrees, it’s the perfect place to soak up the sun.

From its crystal-clear waters and 12 miles of powdery white-sand beaches you’ll see why the Turks & Caicos islands not only feature one of the best beaches in the world but are also one of the top diving and snorkeling destinations.

From bird watching to whale sightings, Turks and Caicos offers something for every nature enthusiast. You might just want to lay on the beach and chill with a cocktail in one hand or eat some jerk fish from the Jerk Shack located at Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos.

With 40 islands to explore in this exquisite chain (only 8 inhabited by anything other than wildlife), you can leave your mark by creating footprints in the otherwise untouched sand. Arrange boat trips for some of the best wildlife sightings.

If you are looking for a hot spot for a quick getaway in October, do not overlook Turks and Caicos.

4. Santa Teresa, Costa Rica

Costa Rica is sandwiched between Nicaragua and Panama in Central America and is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Caribbean Sea to the east.

From rainforests, cloud forests, and tropical forests in San Jose to the undeveloped Santa Teresa. There is something for everyone, whether you’re craving the beach, an adventure seeker, or a nature lover.

In Santa Teresa, you will find howler monkeys, frogs, and quetzals, brightly colored blue, green, and red birds with a mohawk-like crown.

The Corcovado National Park, the largest tropical rainforest in Pacific Central America, is home to scarlet macaws, giant anteaters, and countless lizards.

Costa Rica should be on your bucket list because it is a warm-weather destination that offers ziplining, surfing, hiking, and shopping.

I also suggest purchasing a small handheld fan.

5. San Ignacio, Belize

Another one of my favorite hot countries is Belize to visit if you are in need of a weekend getaway.  I suggest visiting San Ignacio, also known as “Cayo,” which is home to Belize’s largest lobster festival.

San Ignacio is the perfect base for those who would love to be close to nature and historical sites like Mayan ruins, including Caracol and Xunantunich.

Take a day trip to explore the smaller lesser-known blue hole.   This is an inland sinkhole located 12 miles south of the City Of Belmopan in the very center of the country.

Yes, it is locally known simply as the Blue Hole. Its location right on the Hummingbird Highway makes this natural swimming pool an attraction for locals and tourists.

Don’t miss the stunning coral reef that makes up the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The inland Blue Hole is within the St. Herman’s Cave system and is administered as a national park, Parking facilities are available and the Blue Hole is accessible by a short flight of stairs that take you down approximately 30 feet into the very cool freshwater pool.

You’ll quickly learn why Belize is one of my favorite warmest places to visit.

Where to Stay in Belize

Ka’ana Resort is a luxe outpost where wandering spirits roam free. Nestled deep in the tropical jungle of western Belize, our boutique resort is an oasis of style, culture, personalized service, and modern amenities for well-seasoned adventurers and tastemakers alike.

Ka’ana’s location on the doorstep of an ancient Maya city inspired its name, which means “Heavenly Place.”

You’ll find clean lines and modern amenities paired harmoniously with sumptuous Belizean textures and textiles. Whether you’re planning a romantic escape or an adventure abroad, you’ll always feel at home at Ka’ana.

6. The Canary Islands

While the Canary Islands are part of Spain, they are much closer to Africa than they are to Europe.

The Canary Islands are tropical in appearance with a Mediterranean feel and the Canary Islands attract visitors from all over the world to lounge on black- and white-sand Atlantic beaches.

If you are adventurous, there are world-class national parks and leisure activities from aerial tram riding to scuba diving.

The Canary Islands is one of the best European destinations in October. These seven islands offer a wide range of activities, from water sports and hiking trails to modern art and charming colonial towns.

Although each island is different, they share their volcanic origins, which have led to some of their most distinctive natural attractions.

The four largest islands, Tenerife, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, and Gran Canaria all have fascinating volcanic features, two of which are national parks. The islands have three UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Where to stay in the Canary Islands

7. Praslin Island, Seychelles

Praslin Island has been called one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, Anse Lazio is fantastic year-round, but visiting in October when there are fewer crowds and milder weather is perfect for a fall getaway.

Enjoy views of the turquoise Indian Ocean waters and fine-grained, white sands from one of the luxury villas on the Island.   With an average of 8 hours of sunshine a day in October, you’ll revel in the warm weather.

The crystal-clear waters surrounding Praslin are considered excellent for scuba diving, while along its coast, there are some great spots for snorkeling. With average sea temperatures of around 77 degrees, you’ll be happy spending all day in the water.

Heading away from the beach, why not join a guided walk through the ancient forest – home to endemic flora and the very rare Black Parrot?

Praslin’s stunning beauty can also be enjoyed from the air, with helicopter sightseeing tours affording spectacular views over the island and the rest of the archipelago. It’s not hard to see why the Seychelles is such a popular destination. It’s a great place to revel in warm weather and sunshine.

9. Barbados

If you want a Caribbean vacation in October, opt for Barbados—its easternmost position makes it one of the least likely islands to experience a direct hit during hurricane season.

Considered one of the best beaches on the island, Browne’s Beach boasts calm, warm, crystal-clear water that’s perfect for morning snorkeling with sea turtles—one of the area’s most popular activities.

After your encounters with marine life, you can wind down on the fluffy white sands or grab food and drink from any of the local beachside restaurants.

10. Fiji Islands

October is the perfect time to visit Fiji before its cyclone season starts in November. Looking for the ultimate relaxation spot?

The unspoiled beaches at Yasawa Islands are more serene than Fiji’s more popular Mamanucas.

One caveat: this getaway is best for someone wanting to really disconnect since there aren’t many shops or restaurants on the island—here, it’s all about natural beauty.

With clear blue waters and uncharted reefs, the Yasawas are especially great for scuba diving and snorkeling. You also can’t miss swimming in the hidden chambers of the Blue Lagoon Caves.

We recommend staying at Yasawa Island Resort for access to 11 of the most amazing private beaches and the opportunity to stay in a traditionally thatched, beachfront bure suite.

Where to Stay in Fiji

Located on Yasawa Island, Yasawa Island Resort is by the sea and within the region of Sawa-I-Lau Caves and Honeymoon Island.

Visitors to Costa Navarino can indulge in world-class spa treatments, play golf on two signature courses, and dine on exquisite Greek cuisine.

The resort also offers a variety of activities, from horseback riding and mountain biking to cooking classes and cultural experiences.

12. Sonoma, CA

Sonoma, a county in Northern California known for its bucolic charms and array of wineries, could also be described as Napa’s rustic, less-refined, and more relaxed sister.

Sonoma is a wonderful alternative if sandy beaches aren’t what you’re after. Its rolling hills, which rise into the Sonoma Mountains and descend to the Pacific shore, also contain a cache of small cities that are worth a visit:

Try Santa Rosa for an urban escape, complete with museums and buzzy restaurants, but pop by Glen Ellen for a slice of small-town Americana.

In short, if you want a laid-back introduction to stellar vintages and gorgeous properties, Sonoma – rather than Napa – should be your California wine country destination.

Where to stay in Sonoma

From the moment you step onto MacArthur Place, you will experience a feeling of magic and discovery. Over five acres of intimate gardens, grand historic buildings, winding flagstone paths, archways, fire pits, and secret nooks.

September is the height of Harvest Season and Sonoma is the idyllic destination for vinos in search of bespoke winery experiences where they can enjoy the warm autumn weather.

Throughout the lush six-acre property, guests can enjoy a spa with seasonal treatments, Chef’s Garden, a mid-century pool, and three culinary outlets:

Layla — a Mediterranean-meets-Sonoma-inspired restaurant — the cocktail-forward Bar at MacArthur and The Porch coffee shop — or grab a complimentary e-bike and check out the best of Sonoma right in the hotel’s backyard.

MacArthur Place has also partnered with Uprise Art and AERENA Galleries to feature an expansive collection of hand-selected art from independent artists around the country, as well as Bohemian Highway Travel Co to offer curated behind-the-cellar door tasting experiences at boutique wineries not normally open to the general public.

13. Scottsdale, AZ

Arizona isn’t hot all year round unlike what some people think. The state does go through the usual seasonal changes, and they’re worth experiencing in the best ways possible.

Warm weather and sunshine can be found in Scottsdale during the fall months. September’s weather is warm enough for days lounging poolside and cooling off with a swim.

In October or November, hiking and golfing are ideal ways to spend the day with cooler temperatures that remain pleasant for outdoor activities.

Take a Sonoran Desert Jeep Tour at Sunset and be amazed by its beauty.

Changing leaves, hot drinks, and sweater weather are just moments away from reality. In the fall the precipitation ends and temperatures start to drop.

The best time to visit Scottsdale is in the fall when temperatures are pleasant for outdoor activities like visiting Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend.

Where to stay in Scottsdale

Perched high above the Sonoran Desert, ADERO Scottsdale is the only Autograph Collection® destination in a certified Dark Sky Community.

All 177 spacious rooms (including 16 oversized suites) feature a private balcony for guests to enjoy unrivaled starry skies and sweeping views.

14. Las Vegas, NV

The best time to visit Las Vegas is from September to November.

While you’ll find plenty of travel deals throughout the year, the fall shoulder season offers the most moderate weather.

With the end of the vacation season and the beginning of milder temperatures, fall in Las Vegas is a great time to enjoy a variety of activities both in and outside the city. It’s one of the hottest places for adventure in the country and you can enjoy it all in pleasant weather.

Here are some of the top ways to make the most of your stay. Enjoy the cooler weather with a gondola ride on the Venetian’s Grand Canal.

Catch one of the city’s Cirque du Soleil shows such as O or Michael Jackson ONE. Experience the Grand Canyon by helicopter or whitewater raft.

Soak in the autumn light—always great for photos—with a sunrise or sunset hot-air balloon ride. Get into the Halloween spirit on a citywide ghost tour or by visiting the abandoned mining town of Goodsprings.

Fly above the Strip on a nighttime helicopter tour. Take an in-depth look at the engineering wonders of the Hoover Dam.

No matter when you decide to visit Vegas, try to plan a mid-week trip – because this is a common weekend getaway destination, you’ll find more rooms at lower rates between Tuesday and Thursday.

Where to stay in Las Vegas

The Waldorf-Astoria is a Quiet calm Gem hidden in plain sight just half a block from Las Vegas Blvd.

Wonderful accommodations, an excellent restaurant relaxing spa, and an all-around Zen atmosphere make this an oasis of calm excellence.

If you want a more laid-back, personalized Vegas experience with an escape from the chaos, this definitely is the hotel for you.

It’s nice to be able to go out and party and then come back to somewhere quiet and calm to relax away from all the “riff raff”. (If you are the “riff-raff” STAY AWAY..)

You can’t beat the service and location here in addition to the perks with Hilton Honors. Favorite hotel in Vegas! The food, spa, pool, and bar are all great!

15. Galapagos Islands

October is a great month for travel, with many destinations offering mild weather and fewer crowds. The Galapagos Islands stand out as an ideal October getaway, and I discovered this firsthand during my trip with Hurtigruten Cruises.

As the seasons shift, the Galapagos experience a unique phenomenon – the Humboldt Current brings nutrient-rich waters, attracting diverse marine life.

My snorkeling adventures were incredibly rewarding, with close encounters with playful sea lions and graceful sea turtles.

The weather was comfortable, with clear skies perfect for wildlife spotting both on land and at sea. Our Hurtigruten ship provided a perfect base, allowing us to island-hop effortlessly and wake up to new landscapes each day.

October also marks the start of the breeding season for many bird species, so I got to witness the fascinating courtship dances of blue-footed boobies and the return of migratory birds.

The smaller cruise groups meant we had more intimate experiences with the islands’ unique ecosystems, making each excursion feel like a private tour of this living laboratory of evolution.

How to Get Around The Galapagos Islands

Exploring the Galapagos Islands with Hurtigruten Expeditions offers a seamless way to experience this unique archipelago.

The cruise ship is your floating hotel, eliminating the need for constant packing and unpacking as you move between islands.

Each day, the ship anchors at different locations, and you board small zodiac boats for landings on the islands.

These agile vessels allow access to remote beaches and hidden coves that larger ships can’t reach. Onboard naturalist guides lead daily excursions, providing insights into the islands’ ecosystems and wildlife.

The itinerary typically includes a mix of activities – hiking volcanic landscapes, snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, and observing wildlife from the ship’s deck.

Between island visits, you can attend lectures on the ship to deepen your understanding of the Galapagos.

The cruise also handles all the logistics of inter-island travel, park fees, and equipment for activities, making your journey hassle-free and allowing you to focus on the incredible experiences each day brings.

The Galapagos Islands is by. far one of my favorite warm weather destinations.

Conclusion: Hot Countries in October

There are plenty of warm places to escape to in October. Whether you want to relax on a sunny beach or explore ancient ruins, there is something for everyone.

High temperatures can be found in so many places in October. From Mexico’s vibrant culture to Sri Lanka’s serene beaches, these destinations are perfect for a fall getaway.

No matter where you choose to go, don’t let the chill of October hold you back from enjoying the warm weather and exciting adventures these destinations offer.

DO YOU NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE WHEN TRAVELING THIS FALL?

YES! Travel Insurance is important no matter where you are traveling because accidents happen, and you should always travel with insurance.

I got extremely sick in the Czech Republic, and that was the one time I decided to forego travel insurance. I racked up thousands of dollars in medical bills, and they wanted their money before I would even be seen by the ER Doctors.

Make sure to get your insurance before you head off on an adventure!  I highly recommend Travelex Insurance.
