Best Sandals Resorts in 2026: All 17 Ranked So You Can Actually Choose
I have stayed at Sandals resorts in Jamaica, the Bahamas, and Saint Lucia, and the number one mistake I see people make is treating them like they are all the same resort in a different location.
They are not.
The beach quality shifts dramatically from island to island.
The vibe at Sandals Ochi is nothing like the vibe at Sandals Grande St. Lucian. Sandals Royal Plantation is a completely different experience from Sandals Royal Bahamian.
If you book the wrong one, you will spend a week wishing you had done more research. That is where this guide comes in.
I have broken down all 17 Sandals resorts by category: best for honeymooners, best beach, best overwater bungalow, most affordable, best for privacy, best for foodies so you can match the resort to what you actually want from your vacation.
Every property is all-inclusive and adults-only, so the baseline is solid across the board.
What I am helping you do here is find the one that fits your specific travel style and budget.
One thing you need to know before you start planning: three Jamaica properties are currently closed.

Hurricane Melissa hit the island in October 2025, and Sandals is using the closure to invest $200 million in a full redesign of these properties under its Sandals 2.0 concept.
Sandals South Coast reopens November 18, 2026. Sandals Montego Bay and Sandals Royal Caribbean, which is being renamed Sandals Dunn’s River, both reopen on December 18, 2026.
If Jamaica is your destination, I cover exactly what is open now and what to book for later.
Jamaica Sandals Resorts: What Is Closed and When They Reopen
Read this before you book Jamaica.
Hurricane Melissa hit Jamaica in October 2025 as one of the most powerful Atlantic storms on record. Five Sandals properties on the north coast reopened by December 6, 2025:
- Sandals Dunn’s River (Ocho Rios)
- Sandals Ochi
- Sandals Royal Plantation
- Sandals Negril
- Beaches Negril
Three properties are still closed and receiving $200 million in renovations under Sandals’ 2.0 redesign:
Sandals South Coast — Reopens November 18, 2026. The lobby is being opened to the air, a new signature pool is replacing the old pool tower, and four new restaurants are being added, along with a BLUM Blue Mountain coffee concept and a dedicated Rum Club.
Sandals Montego Bay — Reopens December 18, 2026. The original Sandals resort, opened in 1981, is getting a full modernization while keeping its historic character. Expect upgraded rooms, new dining concepts, and refreshed pool areas.
Sandals Royal Caribbean (becoming Sandals Dunn’s River) — Reopens December 18, 2026. Home to the famous private offshore island, this property is receiving a full room and amenities upgrade.
Booking tip: If you want one of these properties, book now. Early reservations on reopening dates get the best rates and first pick of room categories before availability tightens.

Sandals Saint Vincent — The Newest Resort and Why It Matters
Sandals Saint Vincent opened in March 2024, and if you have not heard much about it yet, that is because Saint Vincent itself is one of the least discovered islands in the Caribbean.
That is actually the point.
This resort sits on 50 oceanfront acres surrounded by volcanic mountains and a black-sand beach unlike anything you will find at the Jamaica or Bahamas properties.
Sandals Saint Vincent introduced something the brand had never offered before: two-story overwater villas with private plunge pools, rooftop terraces, and glass floor panels.
You do not have to fly to the Maldives or Bora Bora anymore. These villas are in a category of their own within the entire Sandals portfolio.
The property has 301 rooms, 17 restaurants, and 9 bars. The dining has been called the most elevated in the entire Sandals collection, with a farm-to-table restaurant, Butch’s Island Chop House for surf and turf, and Buccan, a family-style local food concept exclusive to this property.
In 2025, Sandals Saint Vincent was named Best All-Inclusive Resort in the World at the Travvy Awards.
Best for: Couples who want the newest, most modern Sandals experience and do not mind a more remote island location.
Also, the best choice if overwater villas are on your bucket list and you want them without a 20-hour flight.
What to know: Flight options to Saint Vincent are more limited than in Jamaica or Barbados. Plan your routing in advance.
Sandals Saint Vincent & the Grenadines
The newest Sandals — and the only one with two-story overwater villas.
Opens March 2024 · 17 restaurants · 9 bars · 50 oceanfront acres · Named Best All-Inclusive Resort in the World, 2025 Travvy Awards. Rates start around $409/person/night. Spring availability on overwater villas is better than winter — book before it fills.
Top excursions: La Soufrière volcano hike · Falls of Baleine boat tour · Black sand beach day trips · Tobago Cays snorkel

Best Sandals Resort for a Honeymoon
Top pick: Sandals Grande St. Lucian
If romance is the priority, Saint Lucia is where Sandals delivers at the highest level, and Grande St. Lucian is the property that earns the top spot consistently.
It sits on its own peninsula with Rodney Bay on one side and the Atlantic on the other. The private beach stretches over a mile and has fine white sand that is notably free of rocks, which is rarer in Saint Lucia than you might think.
The resort has overwater bungalows, Rondoval Villas, and swim-up suites.
You also get access to two other Saint Lucia Sandals properties through the Stay at One, Play at Three program, which means 29 restaurants and 11 pools across three locations with complimentary shuttles.
Sandals Grande St. Lucian — Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia
Consistently ranked #1. A mile of white sand, overwater bungalows, and views in every direction.
Sits on its own peninsula with Rodney Bay on one side and the Atlantic on the other · 12 restaurants on property, 29 total via Stay at One, Play at Three · Overwater bungalows, Rondoval Villas, swim-up suites · Rates start around $339/person/night.
Top excursions: Piton hike · Sulphur Springs drive-in volcano · Catamaran sunset cruise · Jade Mountain tour · Mud bath at Soufrière

Runner-up: Sandals Grenada
Sandals Grenada sits on Pink Gin Beach, just five minutes from the airport. It has a reputation for some of the best staff in the entire Sandals portfolio and an underwater sculpture park for certified divers.
The SkyPool suites with private infinity pools overlooking the ocean are among the most requested room categories across all Sandals properties.
This resort has a more intimate feel than the larger Jamaica properties, which makes it well-suited for honeymooners who want privacy without total seclusion.
Sandals Grenada — St. George’s, Grenada
Best staff in the Sandals portfolio. Five minutes from the airport and right on Pink Gin Beach.
SkyPool suites with private infinity pools overlooking the ocean · Underwater sculpture park for certified divers · 10 restaurants including Butch’s Chophouse · Intimate size — not a mega resort · Rates start around $310/person/night.
Top excursions: Underwater sculpture park snorkel · Grand Etang rainforest hike · Chocolate estate tour · Concord Falls · Spice plantation tour

Best Sandals Resort for the Beach
Top pick: Sandals Grande Antigua
Sandals Grande Antigua sits on Dickenson Bay, and that beach is the reason this property makes this list. It is widely considered one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean, with calm, swimmable water, fine white sand, and consistent sunshine.
Of Antigua’s 365 beaches, this is the one the locals point to first.
The resort has two distinct villages, Caribbean and Mediterranean, which gives it more visual variety than most Sandals properties.
Eleven restaurants, a large pool area, and fire pits for evening relaxation round out the experience.

Runner-up: Sandals South Coast (closed until November 18, 2026)
When it reopens, South Coast has one of the most exceptional beach setups in the portfolio — a two-mile stretch of white sand on Jamaica’s south coast, set within a 500-acre nature preserve.
The post-renovation version will also have an upgraded pool concept. Worth booking for late 2026 or 2027 travel.
I visited Sandals Grande St. Lucian with my husband and it delivered exactly what we needed!
Time away from the kids, no decisions to make about where to eat or what to do, just the two of us. The food was better than I expected for an all-inclusive.
The room was solid. The amenities kept us occupied without feeling like we had to run a schedule. If you are a couple that needs a full reset, Sandals understands that assignment.
Currently closed — reopening November 18, 2026
Sandals South Coast — Whitehouse, Jamaica
Two miles of beach, overwater bungalows, and a full Sandals 2.0 renovation underway. This one is worth booking now.
South Coast is receiving $200 million in renovations following Hurricane Melissa. The new design includes an open-air lobby, a signature pool, four new restaurants, a BLUM Blue Mountain coffee concept, and a dedicated Rum Club. Reopens November 18, 2026. Early bookings get the best rates and first pick of room categories before availability tightens. Rates start around $196/person/night.
Top excursions: YS Falls · Floyd’s Pelican Bar · Black River Safari · Appleton Estate rum tour · Treasure Beach day trip

Best Sandals Resort for Overwater Bungalows
There are three Sandals properties that offer overwater accommodations. Here is how I rate them:
Sandals Saint Vincent — Two-story overwater villas. Private plunge pools, rooftop terraces, glass floor panels. The most architecturally impressive overwater option in the entire portfolio. Newest and most elevated.
Sandals Grande St. Lucian — Overwater bungalows on Rodney Bay. This is the only Saint Lucia Sandals with overwater options. You get the stunning peninsula setting alongside the overwater experience.
Sandals South Coast — Tahitian-style overwater bungalows. Currently closed until November 18, 2026 for renovations. The overwater bungalow experience here had glass floors and direct lagoon access. Post-renovation, this property will have a refreshed version.
My recommendation: If overwater is the primary reason you are booking Sandals, Sandals Saint Vincent is the move for 2026. The two-story villa design is unlike anything the brand has offered before, and the newer construction means everything is fresh.
Sandals Saint Vincent — Best Overwater Villas
The only two-story overwater villas in the entire Sandals portfolio. Private plunge pool, rooftop terrace, glass floor panels.
Opened March 2024 on the island of Saint Vincent. Rates start around $409/person/night. Spring availability is better than peak winter season — check current dates before they fill.

Most Affordable Sandals Resort
Top pick: Sandals Ochi (Ocho Rios, Jamaica)
If you want the Sandals experience at the lowest entry price, Sandals Ochi is the answer.
It is consistently the most affordable property across the portfolio, and a 7-night all-inclusive stay can come in under $300 per person per night, which is genuinely hard to beat for an all-inclusive Caribbean resort.
Sandals Ochi is also the largest Sandals resort, which means it has the most variety in terms of dining, bars, and activities. It has a dedicated beach club, an amphitheater for entertainment, a Speakeasy bar, and full exchange privileges with Sandals Royal Plantation next door.
Runner-up: Sandals Barbados
Located in St. Lawrence Gap in Barbados, Sandals Barbados tends to come in at a competitive price point compared to the Saint Lucia and Grenada properties. It sits on a white-sand beach and has 16 gourmet restaurants. Good option for travelers who want Barbados specifically at a reasonable Sandals rate.
Most Affordable Sandals Resorts
The full Sandals experience without the luxury price tag. Both properties start well under $350 per person per night.
Sandals Ochi is consistently the most affordable entry point in the entire portfolio. Sandals Barbados is the best value option if you want to experience a different island without paying premium Saint Lucia or Saint Vincent rates.
Sandals Ochi — Ocho Rios, Jamaica
From ~$180/pp/nightThe most affordable Sandals resort in the portfolio. Largest property with 16 restaurants, 11 bars, a beach club, Speakeasy bar, and full exchange privileges with Sandals Royal Plantation next door.

Best Sandals Resort for Privacy
Top pick: Sandals Royal Plantation (Ocho Rios, Jamaica)
If you want a Sandals experience that feels nothing like a large resort, Royal Plantation is the one. It has just 74 ocean-view suites, and every single guest gets Butler Elite service.
That is not a room upgrade you pay extra for. It is the baseline for every guest.
You get two private cove beaches and access to Sandals Ochi next door if you want more dining or entertainment options.
This property attracts a different guest than the larger Sandals resorts, older couples, anniversary travelers, people who want unhurried service and a quieter atmosphere.
Afternoon tea on the terrace is standard. It is understated in the best way.
Runner-up: Sandals Grenada
Grenada itself is one of the quieter Sandals destinations, and the resort sits on Pink Gin Beach away from the more tourist-heavy areas of the island.
The smaller size compared to other Jamaican properties gives it a more personal feel.
Best Sandals Resorts for Privacy
Two properties that feel nothing like a large resort. Smaller, quieter, and built for couples who want to actually disconnect.
Sandals Royal Plantation is the most intimate property in the entire portfolio with just 74 suites and butler service for every single guest. Sandals Grenada delivers privacy through its smaller size, quieter island, and some of the best staff across all 17 Sandals properties.
Sandals Royal Plantation — Ocho Rios, Jamaica
74 Suites — All ButlerThe most intimate Sandals resort in the portfolio. Every guest gets Butler Elite service — not an upgrade, the baseline. Two private cove beaches, afternoon tea on the terrace, and full access to Sandals Ochi next door for dining and entertainment variety. From ~$290/person/night.
Top excursions: Dunn’s River Falls · Blue Hole · Mystic Mountain · Dolphin Cove · Bob Marley Nine Mile Tour

Best Sandals Resort for Foodies
Top pick: Sandals Saint Vincent
The dining at Sandals Saint Vincent has been called the most elevated in the brand’s history, and it is the clearest signal of what Sandals 2.0 means in practice.
You have Buccan, a farm-to-table family-style restaurant using local Saint Vincent ingredients that is exclusive to this property. Butch’s Island Chop House handles surf and turf.
There is a dedicated salad restaurant for lighter lunches, which sounds minor but matters on a hot Caribbean afternoon.
A Rum Bar with a full menu was added after the initial opening. Seventeen restaurants and 9 bars across the property.
Runner-up: Sandals Royal Curaçao
Sandals Royal Curaçao, which launched in 2022 as part of the Sandals 2.0 collection, has some of the most interesting restaurant concepts across all Sandals properties.
Gatsu Gatsu for Japanese, Zuka, Strand, and Butch’s Island Chop House are all on property and included in your stay.
The Dutch Caribbean influence on the local food scene also shows up in the dining in ways you do not find at the Jamaica or Barbados properties.
Best Sandals Resorts for Foodies
If dining is the deciding factor, these two Sandals 2.0 properties have the most elevated food and drink programs in the entire portfolio.
Sandals Saint Vincent leads with farm-to-table concepts and the most talked about restaurant lineup across all 17 properties. Sandals Royal Curaçao brings Dutch Caribbean influence and some of the most creative dining concepts Sandals has ever offered.
Sandals Saint Vincent — St. Vincent and the Grenadines
17 Restaurants — Farm to TableBuccan is a farm-to-table family style restaurant using local Saint Vincent ingredients exclusive to this property. Butch’s Island Chop House for surf and turf, a dedicated salad restaurant, a Rum Bar with a full food menu, and 17 total restaurants across 50 acres. Current Sandals Deals for 2026
Sandals runs promotions throughout the year, and a few are worth knowing about right now.
Stay More, Save More — Currently running through April 20, 2026. Up to $1,000 off plus a free night at select properties. This is a legitimate discount, not a small percentage off the rack rate.
7-7-7 Weekly Deals — An additional 7% off qualifying rooms when you stay 7 or more nights. These deals update weekly and can be stacked with other promotions. Most travelers are not aware this exists.
Best value right now: Sandals Ochi for budget-conscious travelers. With the Stay More, Save More promotion stacking on already-competitive Jamaica rates, a 7-night stay can come in at a strong price point for everything that is included.
Best splurge right now: Sandals Saint Vincent. Spring is shoulder season in Saint Vincent, which means better availability on the top room categories — including the two-story overwater villas — than you will find in peak winter booking windows.
Best booking strategy for Jamaica: The three properties reopening in late 2026 (South Coast, Montego Bay, Royal Caribbean/Dunn’s River) are worth locking in now. Reopening dates tend to have the best early rates before availability tightens as the dates get closer.
How to Choose the Right Sandals Resort for You
Here is a simple way to approach the decision:
You want the most romantic experience: Sandals Grande St. Lucian in Saint Lucia.
You want overwater villas: Sandals Saint Vincent, full stop.
You want the best beach: Sandals Grande Antigua.
You want privacy and butler service for every guest: Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica.
You want the most affordable option: Sandals Ochi in Jamaica.
You want the best food: Sandals Saint Vincent or Sandals Royal Curaçao.
You want the newest property with the most modern design: Sandals Saint Vincent.
You are close to the US and want a short flight: Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau, Bahamas.
You want to book a resort in Jamaica: The five open north coast properties are ready now. If you specifically want South Coast, Montego Bay, or Royal Caribbean, book for late 2026 when they reopen fully renovated.
Frequently Asked Questions
Sandals Grande St. Lucian in Saint Lucia ranks at the top for overall experience. It sits on its own peninsula with Rodney Bay on one side and the Atlantic on the other, has a mile-long white-sand beach, overwater bungalows, and access to two additional Saint Lucia properties through the Stay at One, Play at Three program.
Three Jamaica properties are closed as of March 2026: Sandals South Coast (reopening November 18, 2026), Sandals Montego Bay (reopening December 18, 2026), and Sandals Royal Caribbean — being renamed Sandals Dunn’s River — also reopening December 18, 2026. All three are receiving $200 million in renovations under the Sandals 2.0 redesign following Hurricane Melissa in October 2025.
Sandals Saint Vincent, which opened in March 2024 on the island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It introduced the first two-story overwater villas in the Sandals portfolio, with private plunge pools, rooftop terraces, and glass floor panels.
Yes. All Sandals Resorts are adults-only and require guests to travel as a couple — two adults. For family travel, Sandals operates a separate brand called Beaches Resorts that accommodates families and solo travelers.
Sandals Ochi in Jamaica is consistently the most affordable Sandals property. A 7-night all-inclusive stay can come in under $300 per person per night, which is one of the lowest rates across all 17 properties. It is also one of the largest resorts, so you are getting solid value for that price point.
Sandals Grande Antigua sits on Dickenson Bay, widely considered one of the finest beaches in the Caribbean — calm, swimmable water, fine white sand. Sandals Grande St. Lucian’s mile-long beach is also exceptional and notably free of rocks, which matters more than people expect in Saint Lucia.
Final Thoughts on Choosing the Best Sandals Resort for Your Trip
Every Sandals resort is all-inclusive, adults-only, and delivers a great Caribbean vacation. The question is whether you are going to book the right one for what you actually want.
If overwater villas are the priority, Sandals Saint Vincent is the answer right now.
Nothing else in the portfolio comes close to the two-story villa experience, and the island itself feels genuinely off the beaten path compared to the Jamaica and Bahamas properties.
If you want the best overall resort with the strongest combination of beach, dining, and setting, Sandals Grande St. Lucian is the one that earns that ranking every year for a reason.
If budget is the deciding factor, Sandals Ochi gives you the full Sandals experience at the lowest entry price in the portfolio.
For Jamaica specifically, pay attention to the closure situation before you book. Three properties are still closed after Hurricane Melissa and will not reopen until late 2026.
The five north coast properties are open and running well right now. If you want South Coast or Montego Bay, book early for the best rates on the renovated versions.
One thing I tell every woman in my community who is planning a couples trip: do not overthink the resort comparison to the point where you talk yourself out of going.
Pick the island that excites you, match it to your budget, and book it.
The Sandals experience across all 17 properties is consistent enough that you will not have a bad trip. You might have a preference next time, but you will go back.
If you want a deeper look at one of the top Jamaica properties before you decide, read my full Sandals South Coast review covering the overwater bungalows, room categories, dining, and what the resort actually feels like on the ground.
And if you are still comparing options across Jamaica beyond just Sandals, my guide to the best luxury resorts in Jamaica covers boutique properties, private villas, and non-Sandals options worth knowing about.
Finally, if you are traveling with family or teens and landed on this post by mistake, Sandals is not the right fit. Sandals is couples only.
The family equivalent is Beaches Resorts, and I have a full guide covering all-inclusive vacations at Beaches Turks and Caicos that is worth reading if you are planning a multigenerational trip or a vacation with teens.

I love, love this post! I was trying to make my fiancé understand that it’s ok for us to go away without the children from time to time. It was a hard time. Happy to know that other people think the same.
my husband didnt understand this either but I have stressed to him my life does not revolve around my daughter and they Madison will not die if we go on vacation and reconnect. you have to nuture your relationship or you will look up and not know the person you are married to.

I love this post, Tomiko! Folks are always going to pass judgment, so let them. I firmly believe that what others say or think about me is none of my business. We owe it to ourselves and our children to show them that raising them and being married is work. Fairy tales aren’t real, but you can definitely build a wonderful life that’s balanced.
I have people to ask me all of the time how can I go on so many trips without my daughter and the answer is EASY. I do plenty with her but I also have to make sure I spend QT with my husband.

I don’t have any children but I have friends who are ALWAYS with their kids. They are forgetting that they were a couple before they were parents. And when the kids are gone they’ll once again be a couple so they shouldn’t let the spark die.

I agree wholeheartedly. We don’t have any family nearby, so that’s our usual excuse for NOT taking a vacation without our son. But our 8th anniversary is coming up and we need to do better.

How appropriate to read this on our first kid-free trip in 8 years! I strongly believe that we needed to have some time alone but unfortunately, it hasn’t played out like that before. It’s just a matter of having someone to keep the kids for us. Hopefully, this will be the first of many trips in the future without our children.
Go enjoy your husband and the time away from your kids. Remember you were a woman before you were a mom and the kids will not die if you leave them for a few days.

The biggest obstacle to traveling without my children is finding childcare. We live in a city with no family, and few trusted friends. So traveling alone becomes difficult. However I am committed to making it something we do in 2017. #marriagethatworks #parentingthatworks

We took our first trip without our daughter when she was 9 mos. I was nervous, but we needed it. Ever since, we go without her often, sometimes you need a real break from the kids and real QT.

I laughed out loud when I saw the title of this article. definitely an eye catcher. But as far as the content, I think you make some great points to why you should travel without the kids and how to manage it. I hope those parents out there utilize it!
Women have children and forget they are wives and women too. everyone needs to feel wanted and have alone time without the kids laying in bed between them.

It is so funny that I am reading this. Me and my husband are planning a getaway for his birthday in Destin, FL. We try to go somewhere at least for twice a year even if it’s only for the weekend.

We definitely leave the kids home often so much they’re used to it. We first started with regular dates nights and then graduated to overnight weekend trips and now a two week ma-cation! Great post!

I don’t have kids, but if/when we do have them I know we will still be going on kid-free vacations! It’s good for the SOUL! I think you need some alone time to connect with you as ‘you’ and not you as a ‘parent.’ And considering the cold winter weather right now a Sandals resort adults-only vacay sounds AMAZING!
The overwater bungalows are everythang. It’s freezing here in Tennessee and I am in need of a return trip myself

Have you been to the resort in the Bahamas? That is next on my bucket list!

I love all the Sandals resorts. Jamaica is a favorite vacation spot for us and the Sandals in Montego Bay make it so easy to be on the beach just minutes after we arrive.

We just returned from Sandals Grande Antigua. It is definitely one of our favorite resorts, but Sandals Grande St. Lucian is currently our favorite. We visit Ochi in October, and Barbados/Royal Barbados in July
