Where To Stay In Jamaica: Sandals South Coast Review
Sandals South Coast is a luxurious, all-inclusive resort that offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea and pristine white sand beaches.
Look no further than Sandals South Coast Resort in Jamaica. This 50-acre resort is located in Whitehouse, Jamaica, and it is the perfect destination for couples who want to unwind and relax in a romantic setting.
The main reason why the Sandals South Coast Resort is where you should stay in Jamaica is because of the heart-shaped Over-the-Water Bungalows, the one-of-a-kind Over-the-Water Chapel (perfect for destination weddings!).
The resort is surrounded by a 500-acre nature preserve, which means you can get the best of both worlds, whether you want to reconnect with nature at the all-beachfront, all-ocean view resort, or take in day and night entertainment.
Sandals South Coast is relatively secluded, which makes for the perfect getaway for honeymooners, or couples who just want a little more time to themselves.
I had the opportunity to stay at the resort last year and provide not only my readers but also couples looking to honeymoon in Jamaica with authentic Sandals South Coast reviews.
If an overwater bungalow has been on your bucket list you no longer have to travel halfway around the world to experience an all-inclusive overwater bungalow.
Sandals now offer the most beautiful overwater bungalows in the Caribbean!
The Tahitian-style over-the-water accommodations are available at both Sandals Royal Caribbean and Sandals South Coast properties.

Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit Jamaica depends on your preferences and what you plan to do during your vacation. Jamaica has a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, but there are distinct seasons that can affect the weather and the availability of certain activities and attractions.
The peak tourist season in Jamaica is from mid-December to mid-April, which is also the dry season. During this time, the weather is warm and sunny, and there is little chance of rain.
However, prices are generally higher during this time, and popular attractions and beaches can be crowded.
If you’re looking for a quieter, more budget-friendly vacation, you might consider visiting Jamaica during the shoulder seasons of May to June or November to mid-December. During these times, the weather is still warm, and there are fewer crowds and lower prices.
If you’re interested in experiencing Jamaica’s cultural events and festivals, the best time to visit is from July to August when the island celebrates Independence Day and Emancipation Day.
Other cultural events, such as the Jamaica Carnival and Reggae Sumfest, also take place during the summer months.
Keep in mind that Jamaica’s rainy season runs from May to November, with the most rain falling in September and October.
If you plan to visit during the rainy season, be prepared for occasional showers and thunderstorms, but also enjoy the lush, green landscape that results from the rain.
Ultimately, the best time to visit Jamaica depends on what you’re looking for in a vacation. Whether you prefer warm, dry weather or a more authentic cultural experience, Jamaica has something to offer year-round.
Why Stay at an All Adult-Resort?
At any Sandals Resorts, you are allowed to forget the kids, eat as much food as you can, drink as much alcohol as you want without dying of alcohol poisoning, and enjoy all of the water activities your heart desires.
If you want to take the kiddos on a vacation of a lifetime try Beaches Resort in Turks and Caicos as it is the ultimate all-inclusive resort for families.
Here are some of the reasons I love all-inclusive resorts:
- Convenience: When you book an all-inclusive resort, you pay one price upfront that includes your accommodations, meals, drinks, and most activities. This can be more convenient than having to pay for each item separately at a traditional hotel.
- Budget-friendly: All-inclusive resorts can be a great value, especially if you plan to eat most of your meals at the resort and take advantage of the included activities. This can make budgeting for your vacation easier, as you don’t have to worry about unexpected expenses.
- Variety of activities: Many all-inclusive resorts offer a wide range of activities and amenities, such as water sports, fitness classes, and evening entertainment. This can be especially appealing for families or couples who want to stay active and entertained during their vacation.
- Safety: All-inclusive resorts often have enhanced security measures and gated entrances, which can provide an added sense of safety and security for guests.
- Quality of food and drink: All-inclusive resorts often offer high-quality food and drink options, including premium alcohol and gourmet cuisine. This can be a great option for foodies or those who want to indulge in culinary experiences during their vacation.
Of course, traditional hotels also have their own advantages, such as more flexibility in terms of dining and activities and a wider range of price points. Ultimately, the choice between an all-inclusive resort and a hotel comes down to personal preference and the specific needs of each traveler.
Cost of Sandals South Coast Jamaica
I won’t lie. They are not cheap but if you think about the price of flying to the Maldives ($2,000 PP), Accommodations in the Maldives ($1500 PN) do not include food and activities.
You could very well spend close to $20,000 on a vacation to the Maldives.
The cost of these overwater bungalows varies depending on the time of year and the length of your stay, but they generally range from $1,400 to $3,000 per night.
While this may seem steep, it’s important to consider all of the amenities and features that come with staying in an overwater bungalow at Sandals South Coast.
First and foremost, these bungalows offer unparalleled luxury and comfort. They are spacious and beautifully decorated, with high-end finishes and thoughtful touches throughout.
You’ll enjoy a king-size bed with premium linens, a large bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower, and a private outdoor shower.
In addition to the luxurious accommodations, staying in an overwater bungalow at Sandals South Coast also includes access to a range of amenities and activities.
You’ll have unlimited access to water sports such as kayaking and paddleboarding, as well as access to multiple swimming pools, hot tubs, and fitness centers.
Finally, staying in an overwater bungalow at Sandals South Coast offers a level of privacy and seclusion that is hard to find elsewhere.
You’ll have a private outdoor patio with direct access to the water and can enjoy the stunning views and peaceful surroundings without interruption.

Again…this place was absolutely AMAZING.

Top Reasons You Need a kid-Free Weekend at Sandals South Coast:
1. Remind your hubby he still has It
The honeymoon period in most marriages has a shelf life.
But does that mean you can’t bring back those fluttery butterfly feelings of excitement and anticipation everyone experiences at the beginning of a relationship? Absolutely not!
All marriages maneuver through rough patches.
Some don’t survive long enough to come out the other side unscathed, which is why you have to nurture your marriage; and why I planned a vacation to Sandals South Coast to show my hubby how much I love him.
I was reminded that my husband is my superhero and it might seem like an old-fashioned idea, but this trip to Sandals was about showing a little more affection to the man that provides and supports me in every way imaginable.
We’re all accustomed to the saying, “Happy wife, happy life,” but it’s equally important to remember, “Happy husband, happy household.
“We were able to focus solely on each other and not worry about the hidden cost associated with other luxury vacations we have experienced in the past.
2. Incredible Beaches
Sandals South Coast is a must for any lover of luxury. The property is set within a 500-acre nature preserve, and is perfectly positioned along a two-mile stretch of unspoiled beach where you can view both the sunrise and the sunset each day.
James never leaves home without his portable Apple speakers so we sat on the beach and listened to some old-school hip-hop and laughed for hours. It felt so good not to have one care in the world except what cocktail we were gonna have next.
3. Overwater Bungalows in Jamaica
Sandals South Coast offers a variety of luxury accommodations, including the OverWater Honeymoon Butler Bungalows which are what dreams are made of.
All of the Overwater Bungalows in Jamaica feature luxury hardwood floors, vaulted ceilings, and the most comfortable bed you will ever have the pleasure of laying your body on for the ultimate sleep experience.
4. Three experiences for the price of one
With the Sandals Stay At One, Play At Three* program; we were able to not only enjoy our resort, but we were also able to hop on a complimentary shuttle to the other Sandals Resorts on the island.
This way, we could enjoy everything the three resorts had to offer and maximize our Caribbean vacation with access to additional restaurants, and amenities, and even have a little more fun if that’s possible!
5. Cocktails and Food
When it comes to delectable food, Sandals did not disappoint; featuring dishes from around the world. Sixteen specialty restaurants serve everything from the Caribbean, French, Italian, and Asian fare.
It didn’t matter if we were at the bar grabbing a bite to eat or at one of the 5-star restaurants; the food was always fresh and prepared with local ingredients.
My favorite dish was the fish in a foil and it wasn’t at one of the 5-star restaurants, but a little hut right on the beach.
They prepared Jamaican jerk fish with spices right in front of you. It wasn’t fancy, but oh my gosh was it delicious!
6. Adventure, Adventure, Adventure
Unlike other resorts, Sandals offers an array of unlimited land and water sports at no additional cost. Did I say no additional cost?
You can play beach volleyball, basketball, tennis, croquet, chess, bocce ball, billiards, golf on land, or go enjoy water activities which include the following:
stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, snorkeling, windsurfing, cat sailing, and scuba diving for certified divers.
Jamaica Travel Insurance
I can’t say this enough but please get insurance when traveling to Jamaica! Even if you are only going on a short trip, you should always travel with insurance.
Have fun while visiting Jamaica, but take it from someone who has racked up thousands of bucks on an insurance claim before, you need it.
Make sure to get your insurance before you head off on an adventure! I highly recommend Travelex Insurance.
The Conclusion: Sandals South Coast Review and the Overwater Bungalows
While the cost of staying in an overwater bungalow at Sandals South Coast may be high, the experience is truly one-of-a-kind and worth every penny.
If you’re looking for a luxurious and unforgettable vacation, booking an overwater bungalow at Sandals South Coast is a great choice.
So, if you’re ready to experience the ultimate in luxury and relaxation, book your stay at the overwater

I got married in Ocho Rios at a Sandals Property and LOVED it! Nothing like being on vacation and not worrying about screaming kids in the background ruining all the fun. I’m all about time away from the kids and heck I need to plan a solo trip just so I can enjoy some time alone too! Loved the recap and looking forward to your upcoming trips this summer.
We are going back ASAP and I have new respect for Sandals!

My husband and I have never been away from our son for longer than one night. We’re planning a vacation for our 10th anniversary next summer, and maybe sooner if we see a great deal. I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews for Sandals resorts.
While I understand everybody is different in how they parent but I believe couples should put just as much energy in their marriage as they do their kids. I cant imagine not having any adult one on one time with my husband for 10 years.
